Parasite (Korean: 기생충; RR: Gisaengchung) is a 2019 South Korean black comedy thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho, who co-wrote the screenplay with Han Jin-won. The film, starring Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, Jang Hye-jin, and Lee Jung-eun, follows a poor family who scheme to become employed by a wealthy family and infiltrate their household by posing as unrelated, highly qualified individuals.
Parasite premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2019, where it became the first South Korean film to win the Palme d'Or. It was then released in South Korea by CJ Entertainment on 30 May 2019. The film was considered by many critics to be the best film of 2019 as well as one of the best films of the 21st century, and is the 46th highest-rated film of all-time on Metacritic. It grossed over $258 million worldwide on a production budget of about $15 million.
Among its numerous accolades, Parasite won a leading four awards at the 92nd Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film, becoming the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.[note 1]

ABOUT SOORARAI POTTRU 2020
Soorarai Pottru (transl. Hail the brave) is a 2020 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga, under their respective banners 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment.[2] The story was conceptualised and written by Kongara. The screenplay was written by Kongara and Shalini Ushadevi, with an additional screenplay by Aalif Surti and Ganesha, and Vijay Kumar writing the dialogue. The film stars Suriya, Paresh Rawal, and Aparna Balamurali with Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Karunas amongst others in supporting roles.
The film was partly inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath. While the project was announced in mid-2018, under the working title Suriya 38, the official title Soorarai Pottru was announced on 13 April 2019. Principal photography began the very same month and ended that September. Filming took place across Madurai, Chennai, and Chandigarh. The film features music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, while cinematography and editing were handled by Niketh Bommireddy and Sathish Suriya respectively.
The theatrical release of the film suffered due to post-production delays and the COVID-19 pandemic. The film released digitally through Amazon Prime Video on 12 November 2020, coinciding with the eve of Diwali festival.[3] It was released simultaneously with its dubbed versions in Kannada and Malayalam under the same title and in Telugu as Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa (transl. The sky is the limit).[4] A Hindi dubbed version titled Udaan (transl. Flight) was released on 4 April 2021.[5]
Soorarai Pottru received positive reviews from critics, who praised the major technical aspects of the film, while also appreciating Suriya's performance and Sudha's direction.[6][7] It was selected as one among ten Indian films to be screened under the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards.[8] The film was made available for screening at the 93rd Academy Awards,[9] but was not nominated.[10]
Nedumaaran, fondly called "Maara", is a former Indian Air Force captain who dreams of starting a low-cost carrier airline. He idolises Paresh Goswami, the owner of Jaz Airlines who achieved great success in the airline industry through hard work. One day, Maara is visited by Sundari alias Bommi whose family is looking for a suitable groom for her. Maara is impressed by Bommi's nature and agrees to marry her. He tells her that he grew up as a rebellious boy, much to his father's dismay, and had a strained relationship with him. Later, he joined the Air Force where he excelled. He was often reprimanded by his superior, M. Naidu due to his rebellious nature. When his father was on his deathbed, Maara tried to book a flight home but found that he did not have enough money. He requests many people to help him out financially, to no avail. By the time he reached, his father had already died. This launched his ambition for starting a low-cost carrier. Bommi, however, feels that he would not give much attention to her post-marriage and rejects him.
Maara visits Naidu to ask for the ex-serviceman loan so that he can start his airline but Naidu refuses. With no other option, Maara travels on the same flight as Paresh. He proposes they work together and start a low-cost carrier. Paresh however, believes that the poor should not travel with the rich and humiliates Maara. Prakash Babu, the head of a venture capitalist firm overhears Maara's conversation with Paresh and asks him to explain his business plan to the board members of the firm. Meanwhile, Maara and Bommi start meeting each other frequently and eventually get married. He plans to lease Boeing aircraft from PlaneAm who have agreed to lease them at low prices. After his funds get sanctioned, Maara tries to meet the DGCA officials to acquire the licence but they fail to give him any importance. Maara meets the President of India and requests his help in getting the licence.
Irked by his progress, Paresh uses his power to pass a law that requires Boeing to submit its airline blueprints to fly in the Indian airspace. This leads to PlaneAm cancelling the lease and demanding a penalty fee. Maara requests Prakash to loan him money to pay the penalty but he is denied. Prakash reveals he was working with Paresh and had conspired with him to bring Maara down. He also reveals the Boeing planes were acquired by Jaz airlines instead. Infuriated, Maara storms into Paresh's office but is tackled by the guards. He becomes short-tempered and often quarrels with Bommi but later apologises. He realises that he can fly smaller aircraft and strikes a deal with a Turboprop aircraft manufacturer. Paresh, fearing his rise can affect his business decides to take matters into his own hands. Meanwhile, Maara's entire village comes to help him financially by donating as much money as they can. He plans to commence flight operations from abandoned airstrips since the major airports come under Paresh's control. He names his airline Deccan Air and sells tickets at railway stations and petrol pumps hoping to get customers. Retired Air Force pilots are hired to fly the planes and Bommi is made in-charge of the in-flight catering.
On the day of the delivery of the aircraft, Paresh uses his influence to restrict the flight's landing at Chennai, forcing the flight to crash land at the Air Force base due to lack of fuel. Maara is called by Naidu to explain for the emergency landing and lets him off with a fine after hearing about his ambitions. On the day of the maiden voyage, the flight catches fire and is forced to cancel take-off. It is revealed that Paresh had bribed the captain to sabotage the flight. The captain owns up to his mistakes in front of the inquiry. A prominent businessman offers to buy Deccan Air but Maara refuses citing differences in their vision. Paresh starts a smear campaign against Deccan Air in the hopes of ending Maara's dreams but Maara ensures everyone that his flights are safe and cost-effective. On the day of the start of operations, however, no one turns up for one of the flights. Just when Maara is about to give up, he is informed that a technical glitch occurred due to which the tickets for that particular flight did not get booked. But all other flights get completely booked. With tears of happiness in his eyes, Maara watches the other flights touch down. Paresh accepts defeat as Deccan Air becomes a success.

In April 2018, Sudha Kongara stated that she will be collaborating with Suriya for the director's next film, which is tentatively titled Suriya 38. The film will be produced by Suriya's production house, 2D Entertainment[26] with Guneet Monga of Sikhya Entertainment as the co-producer.[27][28] It was also announced that G. V. Prakash Kumar was selected to work on the film's music, collaborating with director Sudha and actor Suriya for the first time.[29][30] The pre-production work of the film was kick started in June 2018.[31] Niketh Bommireddy handles the film's cinematography.[32] Meanwhile, Sathish Suriya who worked on director's Irudhi Suttru (2016) and Guru (2017) assigned as film editor and Jacki will handle the production designing.[32][33] On 13 April 2019, the title was revealed as Soorarai Pottru with a poster release.[34] Though it was initially reported that the film was a biopic of Simplify Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath,[35] the team clarified it was only inspired by certain events from his life.[36]
In March 2019, Telugu actor Mohan Babu was signed to play a senior officer.[37][38][39] In April 2019, Aparna Balamurali was signed to play the lead actress, pairing with Suriya for the first time.[40] She also learned the Madurai slang of Tamil for the film.[41] Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal was cast as the antagonist making his Tamil debut.[42] Actress Urvashi joined the film's cast in August 2019.[43] Later Karunas, Vivek Prasanna, Achyuth Kumar and Kaali Venkat amongst others were also included to the film's cast.[44]
The film was scheduled to begin in November 2018.[45] The film production began with a principal photography on 8 April 2019.[46] It was revealed that Suriya will be experimenting a new look for his role in the film.[47] The first schedule of the film was completed on 16 April 2019.[48][49] The film was shot across certain parts of Tamil Nadu, during the first schedule.[50] The second schedule of the film was kickstarted in April 2019, at Chandigarh, completing the first schedule of the film, and wrapped up on 6 June 2019.[51] Suriya spent about ₹47 lakhs per day to rent an aircraft. The team shot almost a couple of weeks inside the aircraft, which indeed increased the budget of the film.[52] Hollywood stuntman Greg Powell, roped in to choreograph the film's action sequences.[53] Mohan Babu and Paresh Rawal joined the film's shoot in June 2019,[54] the latter wrapped his portions in July 2019.[55] A month long schedule took place in August 2019, with some important scenes needed to be canned in Madurai.[56][57] After months of shooting, the film was successfully wrapped on 27 September 2019.[58][59][60] Suriya, delivered gold coins to the film's crew members after completing the shoot.[61][62]
The post-production activities kick-started soon after completing the film's shoot. However was suspended in March 2020, following the COVID-19 pandemic.[63] Later, the activities were resumed on 11 May 2020.
G. V. Prakash Kumar worked on the film's score and soundtrack, in April 2019, before the start of its shoot, by recording a song in collaboration with the band Thaikkudam Bridge for a rock number in the film.[64] Singers Dhee,[65] Senthil Ganesh[66] and Harish Sivaramakrishnan[67] of the Agam band, too contributed to the album. Prakash worked on the film's background score in October 2019.[68][69] In November 2019, Prakash announced that, Suriya will croon the rap versions for the film's theme music, which was titled as "Maara Theme".[70] The song marked his third stint as a singer after he sung for a song in Anjaan (2014) and the unreleased film Party.[71] The film's soundtrack album was released by the Sony Music India label on 24 July 2020.[72]
Soorarai Pottru was earlier scheduled to release on 20 December 2019, coinciding with Christmas,[73] but was pushed to the occasion of Pongal, 15 January 2020.[74] Due to delay in post-production activities, the film's theatrical release was delayed to 9 April and then to 1 May,[75] which was later put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[76][77] Suriya eventually stated, that the film will be scheduled for a theatrical release, in an online interaction with his fans through social media.[78]
On 22 August 2020, coinciding with the occasion of Vinayaga Chathurthi, Suriya confirmed that the film will be digitally premiered through the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on 30 October 2020,[79] and the theatrical release was called off.[3][80] This came under a disappointing response from the actor's fans, who wanted to watch this film in theatres, and requested Suriya to reconsider his decision.[81] However, Suriya stated that he took his decision as a producer and not as an actor.[80] Suriya faced a similar controversy when he released his film Ponmagal Vandhal (2020), starring Jyothika, in Prime Video, receiving backlash from theatre owners and exhibitors, for his decision.[82] Director Bharathiraja welcomed Suriya's move by releasing the film through OTT, stating that it is the right move for the current situation.[83]
Soorarai Pottru released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages, with the Telugu version titled as Aakasam Nee Haddhu Ra.[84][85] Rajasekar Pandian, the executive producer of 2D Entertainment stated that the film will be premiered across 200 countries.[86] Suriya further announced that ₹5 crore from the film's profit, will be donated to the film industry workers and frontline workers who made necessary efforts to control the pandemic.[87][80]
A week prior to the film's release date, on 21 October 2020, Suriya announced that the film will be postponed due to the delay over obtaining the NOC, from the Indian Air Force.[88][89][90] The makers announced that the film will be released on 12 November 2020, coinciding with the eve of Diwali festival.[91] A Hindi dubbed version titled Udaan was released on 4 April 2021.[92]
As part of the film's promotional strategy, the production company announced that they will collaborate with SpiceJet as their official partner. The chairman of SpiceJet, Ajay Singh launched his company's Boeing 737 plane with a poster from the film branded on it on 13 February 2020, the same day where the second single of the film was launched inside on the company's Boeing 737 plane during mid-air flight. This will be the third time a passenger jet had been wrapped for advertising an Indian film, after AirAsia India for Kabali (2016) and SpiceJet for Darbar (2020).[93][94] The making of Soorarai Pottru was released on 14 April 2020, on the occasion of Tamil New Year's Day.[95] Suriya's dedication and hard work for the film featured in the making video was appreciated by fans.[96]
Prior to the release of the film,[97] Suriya launched a huge space balloon with a special poster at the highest possible altitude.[98] The poster, which also featured the signature of over 10,000 fans, was launched at 34,000 ft above the sea level by a German crew.[97] The first-of-a-kind promotional activity went viral through social media platforms and internet.[99] A Twitter emoji for the film was launched prior to its release.[100]
The satellite rights of the film for its Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada versions were sold to the Sun TV Network.[101][102] The film's television premiere took place on 14 January 2021, coinciding with the occasion of Pongal.[103][104]
Soorarai Pottru received positive reviews from critics.[105] Writing for The Hindu, Srinivasa Ramanujam wrote: "Director Sudha Kongara delivers a well-knit cinematic tale that urges us to follow our dreams."[106] Ranjani Krishnakumar from Firstpost gave the film a rating of 4.5 out of 5, stating, "Sudha Kongara, Suriya tell a moving, poetic biopic without deifying the leading man."[107] A reviewer from The Quint gave the film a rating of 3.5 out of 5, writing, "Suriya soars in Sudha Kongara’s inspiring movie" and further writes that it is "A comeback for Suriya after the atrocious NGK and Kaappaan."[108] M Suganth of The Times of India gave a rating of 3.5 out of 5, stating, "Soorarai Pottru is an inspiring tale with robust performance from Suriya."[109] Baradwaj Rangan of Film Companion South wrote: "In terms of sheer professionalism, the film is the best thing that’s come on the southern OTT space." [110] A reviewer from The New Indian Express wrote, "Suriya delivers an ace performance in this soaring, sensitive drama."[111] India Today gave 3.5 out of 5 stars and stated "Soorarai Pottru was made for the theatrical experience and would have been an amazing watch on the big screen. However, the OTT release has given the makers of the film a wider reach."[112]
Gauthaman Bhaskaran of the News18 gave 2.5 out of 5 and stated "Soorarai Pottru could have been far more inspiring and even engrossing had director Sudha Kongara done away with unnecessary songs and emotions. Her plane would have had a smoother flight sans the turbulence."[113] Sify gave the film, 4 out of 5 stars and stated, "Soorarai Pottru stands out with its fine writing and outstanding performance of Suriya. It is undeniably another good film from Sudha Kongara. On the whole a solid and satisfying watch."[114] Sowmya Rajendran, editor-in-chief of The News Minute gave 4 out of 5 and stated, "Soorarai Pottru is easily Suriya's best outing in a long time. Suriya is in fine form, switching between angry young man to conflicted son, romantic husband and cussing businessman. It's a pleasant flight even if there's some turbulence along the way."[115] The Indian Express gave 2 out of 5 and stated "Soorarai Pottru is marred by the high-pitched melodrama whistled up every time the script needs to create fan-pleasing moments. Given Suriya’s mega popularity, that is an always present temptation, and the film gives in, much too often."[116] Writing for Hindustan Times, Haricharan Pudipeddi wrote: "Soorarai Pottru, which will go down as one of the best films of the year, is Suriya’s return to form (after a few mediocre films) and it’s quite gutsy of a mainstream hero to produce and star in a film that doesn’t tick all those boxes of a typical commercial entertainer."[117]
Indiaglitz rated 3.25 out of 5 and summarised "Sudha has made sure that despite the cinematic liberties and some pace issues in the second half of the movie, Soorarai Pottru is a completely engaging and enjoyable entertainer with many emotionally charged, goosebumps moments. Sudha Kongara's engaging screenplay and the return of the powerhouse performer Suriya make this Soorarai Pottru a must-watch, the inspiring flight you should never miss."[118] Behindwoods rated 3.5 out of 5 and stated "Suriya and Sudha Kongara's Soorarai Pottru is an inspiring biopic."[119] Republic World gave 4 out of 5 and summarised "Soorarai Pottru is a must-watch as the performances of each actor in the film is exceptional. The movie has the potential to be one of the most highly regarded films about a common man achieving his dreams. The movie is partly based on events from Captain G. R. Gopinath's life and the film proves to be a tale that must be told."[120]
Soorarai Pottru was selected as one among ten Indian films to be screened under the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards.[8][121] On 26 January 2021, the film's executive producer, Rajasekar Pandian announced that the film made an official entry to the 93rd Academy Awards,[122] for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score and other categories.[123] He further added that the film has been made available to the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences for votes and nomination at the Academy Screening Room.[124] Soorarai Pottru was also screened at the Chennai International Film Festival.[125]
Soorarai Pottru received positive response from celebrities with director Shankar,[126] actors Mahesh Babu,[127]and Samantha Akkineni amongst others praising the film.[128][129] The film became the second most tweeted hashtag of the year in entertainment section,[130][131] according to a survey report by Twitter.[132][133] The film also became the second most searched topic in Google Trends,[134][135] thus becoming the only South Indian film to feature in this list.[136][137] Soorarai Pottru also became the most watched regional language film in the history of Amazon Prime in India.[138]

Run is a 2020 American psychological thriller film directed by Aneesh Chaganty and written by Chaganty and Sev Ohanian. The film stars Kiera Allen as a homeschooled teenager who begins to suspect her mother (Sarah Paulson) is keeping a dark secret from her.
Run was released on November 20, 2020, by Hulu, theatrically in other territories by Lionsgate, and was released internationally on April 2, 2021, by Netflix. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and became Hulu's most successful original film upon its release.
Diane Sherman gives birth prematurely to an infant daughter whom she later sees lying in an incubator, surrounded by hospital staff. She cries and asks if the child will be ok. The screen reads the definitions of arrhythmia, hemochromatosis, asthma, diabetes, and paralysis.
Seventeen years later in Pasco, Washington, her now-teenage daughter Chloe awaits university acceptance letters. Diane insists she is eager to see Chloe leaving home to begin college, yet repeatedly stops Chloe from seeing the mail before her.
Chloe finds green capsules prescribed to her mother while looking in a bag of groceries. Diane later gives one to Chloe, claiming it is Trigoxin prescribed to Chloe. Chloe checks the bottle and finds a pharmacy label with her name covering a label with Diane's. She tries to look up Trigoxin online, but their home internet no longer works. She dials a stranger from her mom’s bedroom, where the only landline in the house is, and asks him to look up the drug for her. The man is confused, but eventually looks it up, just as Chloe hears her mother at the front door. He tells her it’s a heart medication and when she asks for the color, he tells her it’s red.
Chloe finds a way to figure out what the green pill is, and coaxes her mother to take her to the movies. During the movie, she tells her mother she has to go to the bathroom, and the distracted Diane lets her go. Chloe rushes out the door to the pharmacy across the street. Cutting the long line of customers, she begs her pharmacist to tell her what the medication is. The pharmacist refuses because it’s not Chloe’s medication, but her mother’s, and she can’t give out that confidential information. Chloe explains that it’s a scavenger hunt the two are playing, and the pharmacist tells her that it’s actually a relaxant called Ridocaine that Diane just picked up for their nonexistent dog. Diane runs in screaming for Chloe as she asks the pharmacist what would happen if a human took the medication. The pharmacist says that one’s legs could go numb and Chloe begins to hyperventilate. Her mother subtly sedates her and brings her home.
Chloe wakes up in bed and notices her mother left her food on the bedside table and her door is locked from the outside. She picks the lock, but it’s chained up as well, so she is still unable to escape. After pleading with her mother to let her out, she looks out the window and notices her mother’s car isn’t there. She devises a plan, and grabs a blanket, an extension plug connected to an outlet, a tool from her desk and fills her mouth with water. Dragging herself out of her window, she successfully makes her way to her mother’s bedroom window, using the tool to heat the window and spits the water on it, leading it to completely shatter. Laying the blanket over the window, she drags herself into her mother’s room. She rushes to her room for her inhaler as she’s having an asthma attack. Getting back in her chair, she gets on the ramp that brings her downstairs, but it doesn’t work. Chloe notices her mother cut the wires to prevent her from escaping. Chloe throws her wheelchair down the stairs and tumbles after it. Although injured from her fall and the glass, she lifts herself up into her wheelchair and out the front door.

Out on the road, she hides when she hears a car, believing it to be her mother. She notices it’s the mail truck, and rushes to the middle of the street to stop him. She explains what her mother is doing while Diane drives down the road and notices Chloe. The driver tells Diane he can’t let her take Chloe home because she said she’s been hurting her. Diane pleads with him, but he doesn’t relent. She says she will follow them to the hospital. Bringing Chloe into the back of the mail truck, he asks her if she wants to go to the hospital or the police, and she states the latter. Meanwhile, Diane rummages in her trunk, and in a first aid kid lays a syringe and gun. Unaware that Diane is approaching, the driver is stabbed with the sedative.
Chloe awakes in the basement with her wheelchair chained. Diane is shown dragging the driver’s bloody body upstairs. Chloe tries to escape, but to no avail. She explores the area she’s never been in, and discovers all her college acceptance letters, as well as a box of photos and documents that show Diane's real daughter died two hours after birth and an article showing a couple who had their newborn baby stolen. Chloe finds a picture of herself as a toddler, walking. Diane enters and offers to start anew. Chloe accuses Diane of committing factitious disorder imposed on another and asks if she was ever genuinely sick. Diane denies the accusations and insists she did everything to help Chloe. Diane fills a syringe with household neurotoxins. Afraid her mother might try to kill her, Chloe escapes into a storage room. Her mother grabs her keys to unlock the door after pleading with her. Realizing her mother can’t bear to live without her, Chloe drinks from a bottle of organophosphate, forcing Diane to hospitalize her.
After reviving Chloe, she wakes in a hospital bed with tubes down her throat, unable to move or speak. She eventually reaches for the call button, and signals to a nurse that she has to tell her something. The nurse grabs her a crayon and paper, but still immobile, she struggles to write. A code blue is called and the nurse rushes out before reading what Chloe wrote. Diane takes advantage of the chaos from the code blue, and sneaks in to retrieve Chloe. She covers her up with a blanket, and quickly wheels her to the elevators. The nurse goes back to see Chloe and finds her missing, with the note that spells “mom.” After this and suspicions from a doctor questioning why Chloe has had a dozen primary doctor changes in the past few years, security is informed as the two ride on the elevator alone. Chloe mouths help to passers by but nobody is paying attention. Rushing to escape to the car, Diane pushes Chloe towards the exit, but is stopped by stairs and an out of service escalator. Pulling out her gun, she panics, but then notices a sign for a ramp. Chloe locks the chair so Diane can’t move her. After telling her she just wants to protect her, Chloe says she doesn’t need her as the police show up. Diane raises her gun and they shoot her in the arm, causing her to fall back, down the stairs, plummetting to the bottom.
Seven years later, Chloe wheels in to a correctional facility, and uses her cane to go through the medical detector, gaining mobility in her legs again. She goes in to visit someone in the infirmary ward, and begins talking about her wonderful husband, children and job. The screen pans to her decrepit mother, laying silently and immobile in bed. Pulling the green pills out of her mouth, Chloe tells her mother she loves her, and to open wide. The movie ends as it is shown that Chloe is taking her revenge now by poisoning her mother the exact same way she did.

In June 2018, it was announced Lionsgate would produce, distribute, and finance the film, with Aneesh Chaganty directing from a screenplay he wrote, alongside Sev Ohanian. Ohanian and Natalie Qasabian produced the film.[5] In October 2018, Sarah Paulson joined the cast of the film.[6] In December 2018, Kiera Allen joined the cast of the film.[7]
Principal photography in Winnipeg, Canada began on October 31, 2018, and wrapped on December 18, 2018.[8]
Torin Borrowdale composed the film's score, as he previously collaborated with Chaganty in Searching. According to Borrowdale, the goal for the film's musical direction was to achieve "the essence of Bernard Herrmann, but for a 2020 cinematic experience."[9]
Run was scheduled to be released on May 8, 2020, coinciding with Mother's Day weekend.[10] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was pulled from the schedule. Lionsgate intended to announce a new release date "once there is more clarity on when movie theaters" will reopen.[11] It was previously scheduled to be released on January 24, 2020.[12] In August 2020, Hulu acquired American distribution rights to the film,[13] and released on their service on November 20, 2020.[14] Netflix picked up the international rights to the movie and will release it on April 2, 2021.[15]
Following its debut weekend, Hulu reported that Run was the most-watched original film in the platform's history, as well as the most talked about on Twitter.[16]
On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 89% based on 123 reviews, with an average rating of 7.1/10. The site's critics consensus reads: "Solid acting and expertly ratcheted tension help Run transcend its familiar trappings to deliver a delightfully suspenseful thriller."[17] On Metacritic, it has a weighted average score of 67 out of 100, based on 20 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews."[18]
Jessica Gomez of AllHorror.com wrote: "If you're like me and you were captivated by the story of Gypsy Rose and her mother Dee Dee Blanchard, then I've got a psychological thriller with your name on it."[19] Ryan Lattanzio of IndieWire gave the film a "C+" and said, "There's enough go-for-broke and whiplash-inducing shifts in tone on display to suggest this filmmaking duo has a future, even when their characters don't seem to have a past."[20]

Pradeep Kamadana of Envoy web[14] gave a review that it is a breezy comedy and a must-watch series. Rahul Dev showed good performance without spoiling the appearance. Harsh Beniwal, Anveshi Jain and Divinaa Thackur did extremely well & justified their performances. The writer and director Chirag Arora had done a great job for thoroughly enjoyable series. On the other hand, he criticized that if there was subtitle provided for Punjabi slang could have reached to more audiences.
Binged[15] has given 5/10 stars on their platform stating that it is partly enjoyable. Criticized that screenplay is inconsistent and narration was superfluous. But also highlighted that the performances of Rahul Dev and Nirmal Rishi were good, the story idea was amazing and the steady humorous sequences.
Pakaao[16] team has given 3/5 stars on their platform stating that it is watchable. The acting of Rahul Dev was great & Harsh Beniwal proved to be a perfect match for Soggy. Cinematography, special effects & editing could have a better scope of improvement. But the direction was nicely done by the director.
Binged[17] has given 1/10 star on their platform stating that it is "The Daddy of All Cringe fests". Criticized that screenplay and writing are without purpose or direction, story is terrible which does not make sense. Performance of all the actors are weak and not given any justice. Also the casting selection were poor.
Aparna Hajiris of LetsOTT[18] has given 1/5 star stating that it is "As pointless as blunt pencil". Actors Harmeet Mamik & Vidya Malavade had saved the web series with some performance and their chemistry was good. The script writing didn't make any impact. The screenplay and production quality are not up to the standards as compared to any other Zee5 or AltBalaji show.
Tannavi Sharma of Leisurebyte[19] given an overall 0.5/5 stars stating that "What Even is This Crass and Unfunny Creation!". The web series is not making any sense and it is falling under cringe category safely. Concept of an orphan looking for his father is a serious story and this web series made fun of it which dealt with insensitive and annoying manner.

Bloodshot is a 2020 American superhero film based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name. It is intended to be the first installment in a series of films set within a Valiant Comics shared cinematic universe.[3] Directed by David S. F. Wilson (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer and a story by Wadlow,[4] the film stars Vin Diesel, Eiza González, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, and Guy Pearce. It follows a Marine who was killed in action, only to be brought back to life with superpowers by an organization that wants to use him as a weapon.
Bloodshot was theatrically released in the United States on March 13, 2020, by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film grossed $37 million worldwide and received mixed reviews from critics. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic closing theaters across the globe, Sony made the film available digitally on-demand less than two weeks after it was released theatrically. A sequel is in development.
After leading a successful rescue operation of hostages in Mombasa, U.S. Marine Ray Garrison and his wife Gina travel for a holiday at an Italian beachside town in the Amalfi Coast. They are kidnapped by a group of mercenaries led by Martin Axe, who demands to know how the US military learned about the hostages and their location. When Ray explains that he cannot answer, as he is not privy to this information, Axe executes Gina in front of him. Ray vows revenge, and Axe kills Ray as well.
An amnesiac Ray awakens in the labs of Rising Spirit Tech (RST), a company in Kuala Lumpur specializing in cybernetic enhancements for disabled US military personnel. CEO and lead scientist Dr. Emil Harting tells Ray he is the first successful human subject of the "Bloodshot" program, resurrecting and healing him through the injection of experimental nanite technology now replacing his entire bloodstream. This technology increases his strength and heals his injuries, but the nanites need to be regularly replaced and recharged or he will eventually succumb to damage and die again. When the nanites work at extreme power, they create a red glowing circle of light on Ray's chest.
Ray is introduced to Dr. Harting's other patients including former US Navy diver "KT", with whom he strikes up a friendship, former service member Marcus Tibbs, and ex-Navy SEAL Jimmy Dalton, who overtly dislikes Garrison. After experiencing flashbacks of Gina and Axe, he leaves to avenge Gina's death. Using the nanites and RST servers to hack into databases, Ray tracks down Axe to Budapest and kills him along with his bodyguards. Back at RST, Ray is put to sleep as his nanites are rebooted. As he has done many times before, Harting then replaces Ray's memories with a new scenario of how Gina died, this time with Axe's associate Nick Baris as the culprit. KT objects to Harting repeatedly manipulating Ray's memories so he will go after different targets without question or remorse, but she is ignored and reminded that RST can kill her by deactivating her enhancements.
Ray awakens, once again amnesiac, and is reintroduced to RST, then experiences flashbacks of Baris kidnapping and killing him and Gina. Driven by revenge, he tracks Baris to East Sussex and kills him, despite the man pleading that RST is lying. Wilfred Wigans, a programmer forced to work for Baris, activates an EMP bomb that incapacitates Ray and severs his link with RST. Ray awakens in Wigans's office and experiences contradicting memories of who killed Gina. Wigans helps him realize RST has been manipulating him so he would kill the company's enemies and rivals. Ray tracks down Gina, learning she is still alive but that their relationship ended five years ago, and since then, she has started a family in London.
Harting sends KT after Wigans. After asking Wigans for help in freeing herself from RST control and taking down the corporation, she tells Harting she failed to capture the programmer. Meanwhile, Ray is recaptured by Dalton and Tibbs and brought back to the laboratory. KT and Wigans sabotage the reprogramming process and destroy the RST computers. Ray awakens and Dalton and Tibbs try to subdue him. After a lengthy battle, he kills them as the RST building is destroyed. Harting confronts Ray, confident that the Marine will surrender now that his nanites have been exhausted. To his surprise, Ray is willing to die to achieve victory and activates an explosive, destroying them both. Ray later awakes with his full memories, revived by Wigans who has updated his technology so his nanites are self-sufficient. The two men and KT then leave in search of a new life.

In March 2015, it was announced that Columbia Pictures had acquired the film rights to the Valiant Comics character Bloodshot, which would be produced by Original Film and Valiant Entertainment. Jeff Wadlow was hired to write the screenplay.[5] In April 2015, Sony Pictures, Original Film and Valiant announced a five-picture deal to bring Valiant Comics' superheroes to the big screen, including Bloodshot. Chad Stahelski and David Leitch were hired to direct the film, from a screenplay by Wadlow and Eric Heisserer.[6] Stahelski and Leitch eventually passed on the project. In March 2017, Dave Wilson was announced as the director of the film.[7] Screenwriter Adam Cozad later contributed to the script.[8]
In July 2017, it was reported that Jared Leto was in early negotiations to star in the film as Bloodshot,[9] but in March 2018, it was announced that Vin Diesel would portray the main character.[10] By May, additional cast members were announced, with Sam Heughan, Michael Sheen, and Eiza González.[11] In June of the same year, Talulah Riley and Alex Hernandez were cast in the film to play the titular characters' wife named Gina, and member of a scientist team named Tibbs, respectively.[12] Later, Toby Kebbell and Johannes Haukur Johannesson were both cast in villainous roles, with the former playing Axe.[13][14] In August 2018, Lamorne Morris was hired to play a young scientist named Wilfred Wigans.[15] In the same month, it was reported that Guy Pearce was in talks to replace Sheen, who had to exit the movie due to scheduling and family conflicts.[16]
Principal photography began on August 6, 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa, and in Prague, Czech Republic, with some filming taking place in Budapest, Hungary in that same month.[17][18] Filming officially wrapped on October 25, 2018.[
Bloodshot was released in the United States on March 13, 2020, by Sony Pictures Releasing, after previously being scheduled to release on February 21, 2020.[20] It also opened in the UK, Ireland, India, and Spain on the same day.[21]
On March 18, Sony Pictures confirmed that due to movie theater closures because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the film would be released digitally through Premium VOD in the United States and Canada on March 24, 2020.[22] This was just two weeks after the film's theatrical debut and before the end of the usual 90-day theatrical run.[23] Over its first three days of home release, Bloodshot was the most watched on Amazon Prime and fourth-most on iTunes.[24] Despite the pandemic's affects on the film's box office return, Bloodshot was ranked number one on Digital Entertainment Group's "Watched at Home Top 20" list for the week ending May 9, 2020.[25]
As the pandemic receded, the film was released in three Santikos Theatres locations in San Antonio, Texas on May 1, 2020.[26] In China, the film was released on July 24, 2020.[27] In August 2020, AMC Theatres announced that the film would resume showing in theaters upon their reopening that month.[28]
Bloodshot grossed $10 million in the United States and Canada, and $27.2 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $37.1 million, against a production budget of $45 million.[2]
In the United States and Canada, the film was released alongside The Hunt and I Still Believe, and was projected to gross around $10 million from 2,861 theaters in its opening weekend.[29] The film made $3.8 million on its first day, including $1.2 million from Thursday night previews. It went on to debut to $9.3 million, finishing third. The weekend was also noteworthy for being the lowest combined-grossing since October 1998, with all films totaling just $55.3 million, in large part from societal restrictions and regulations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[30] In the film's second weekend, due to the mass theater closures around the country, the film made $52,000 from 79 locations, mostly drive-in theaters.[31]
After months of delays, the film was released in China on July 24, and made $2.8 million in its opening weekend.[32]
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 30% based on 159 reviews, with an average rating of 4.56/10. The site's critics consensus reads: "Bloodshot gives Vin Diesel a solid opportunity to indulge in old-school action that should satisfy fans, even if the end result is disappointingly mediocre."[33] On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 44 out of 100, based on 35 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[34] Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "B" on an A+ to F scale, while filmgoers at PostTrak gave the film an average 3 out of 5 stars, with 45% saying they would definitely recommend it.[30]
Owen Gleiberman of Variety wrote: "Bloodshot is a trash compactor of a comic-book film, but it's smart trash, an action matrix that’s fun to plug into."[35] Justin Lowe of The Hollywood Reporter gave the film a mixed reviews, saying "[director] Wilson acquits himself adequately enough, emphasizing pacing over character development, but delivering a series of kinetically propelled scenes that clearly benefit from his extensive visual effects experience."[36] Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 2 out of 4 stars, calling it ambitious but "intermittently entertaining" and "frantically overcooked, bursting with headache-inducing, rapid-cut action sequences".[37]
Angelica Jade Bastien at Vulture.com was critical of Diesel's performance: "At this point, what could have been a passably entertaining diversion, the kind of film best enjoyed overcoming a hangover or while folding laundry, falls flat on Diesel's lips. He lacks the gravitas of delivery, disinterested in his lines even before he finishes saying them."[38] Joshua Rivera of The Verge wrote: "As an action movie, Bloodshot is the worst kind of uninspiring: not bad enough to circle back around toward fun, not good enough at action to be even momentarily impressed by a fight scene."[39] Odie Henderson at RogerEbert.com called it a "Universal Soldier rip-off", and hoped there would not be any sequels.[40]
Intended to be the launch of a new shared cinematic universe of Valiant Comics superheroes, Bloodshot was conceived to be followed by: a sequel, two films based on the comic book series Harbinger, and then a crossover film entitled Harbinger Wars.[6] Though a Harbinger movie was initially scheduled to be the first installment in the franchise, development was delayed in favor of Bloodshot.[41][6]
The future of the franchise was questioned by various outlets, due to the moderate box office and critical reception.[42][43] In September 2019, it was announced that Harbinger would be distributed by Paramount Pictures.[44] In March 2020, director David S. F. Wilson stated that even though different film studios have distribution rights, Valiant still plans to build a franchise from Bloodshot, acknowledging that Diesel will play a large role in the future of the planned film series.[45] In November 2020, a Bloodshot sequel was officially announced as being in development, with Diesel intended to reprise his role.[46] By December of the same year, Diesel confirmed his involvement with the project.[47]
